Mrs. Hayhurst
A Colorado native, Mrs. Hayhurst earned her BA in English from the University of Northern Colorado and holds dual master’s degrees in English with a focus on secondary education and in Special Education from Regis University. Her academic background reflects a deep and enduring interest in literature, writing, and inclusive education.
Mrs. Hayhurst currently serves as Ridgeview’s Dean of Students and teaches Yearbook, English 8, and British Literature. Over the years, she has also taught courses in composition and Supplemental Studies. Her approach to education is grounded in the belief that excellence in the classroom is inseparable from the development of the whole person.
She first came to Ridgeview in 2008. Initially stepping in to help where needed, she quickly found herself drawn to the school’s mission and classical philosophy. Since then, she has remained a dedicated member of the Ridgeview community, overseeing all extracurricular activities and championing the importance of co-curricular life—from athletics to the outdoor program—as an essential complement to academic growth. She believes that a truly balanced education nurtures both the mind and the spirit, and that students thrive when they are challenged intellectually while being engaged socially, physically, and creatively.
Outside the classroom, Mrs. Hayhurst finds joy in quiet and creative pursuits. She is an avid reader and enjoys cross-stitching and paper crafting. These small acts of creation mirror the thoughtful care she brings to her work with students, whom she encourages to pursue lives of curiosity, balance, and purpose.
