The Arts

  • This program will teach students to play the violin. It is intended for beginning students.

  • This club is the out-of-class portion of the Ridgeview Chamber Choir. This club is offered to allow students the opportunity to sing in the Chamber Choir even if they can't take the class. Club students rehearse together and join the Chamber Choir for several performances throughout the year. STUDENTS WHO HAVE NEVER SUNG IN CHOIR BEFORE ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO TAKE THE CHAMBER CHOIR CLASS RATHER THAN THE CLUB. Rehearsals are Thursdays during Tutorial. Students must be willing to spend ample time practicing the music outside of rehearsals, as club students have less time to prepare (practice tracks and sheet music will be provided).

  • The Enrichment Orchestra club is for students who have already started playing strings and are at a beginning reading level. While the elective classes during school are for beginning students, this club will offer a beginning orchestra experience . We will move from everyone playing the same melody, to playing harmony and doing more music reading. Interested students must have approval from Miss Bellone to enroll. More advanced 4th grade students who have studied privately are welcome.

  • 9th - 12th graders are invited to audition for our fall play, Radium Girls. Auditions will be held September 9-13, more information will be posted in the music hallway.

  • The Fine Arts Crew builds sets for the fine arts productions, manages set changes, and generally assists Mr. Binder with production needs. The Fine Arts Crew also assists with Music Departments shows.

  • Grace Notes is an after-school elementary choir directed by Mrs. Nichols. It is open to students in grades 2-4 who love to sing! A simple audition is required. Download the audition sheet, here.

  • Jazz Band is an audition ensemble made up of strong high school instrumental music students who are academically eligible. This group meets to play and rehearse music from the jazz repertoire. This group will be featured at the Winter and Spring concerts in December and April. Players must be organized, self-motivated to practice at home, and have strong sight reading and rhythm skills on their particular instrument. Players will also have opportunities to play solos (either written or improvised). Players do not need to already have an understanding of jazz technique in order to participate, although being familiar with what jazz music SOUNDS like will be helpful. Students must be enrolled in an instrumental music class or signed up for a performance credit with these classes in order to participate.

  • The Jazz Choir Club is an advanced, mixed vocal ensemble specializing in vocal jazz and contemporary vocal music. The club performs with the other RCS choirs at their concerts. The club meets during 2nd lunch and Chambers once a week. Audition required. This ensemble is only available to students already enrolled in the High School Choir. If this requirement does not work with your schedule, contact the club instructor, Mr. Macy.

STEM

  • ChessMates is a fully instructional club that takes place weekly. ChessMates sends chess coaches to give a lesson and then allow players to play matches with peers with their support and guidance as needed. There are two groups split by grade, K-2 and 3-6.

  • Upper school students participate in First Tech Challenge and learn to think like engineers. Teams will design, build, and code robots to accomplish tasks and compete against other teams.

  • Ridgeview's High School Science Bowl club involves weekly practices in preparation for the DOE National Science Bowl® competition. The Science Bowl is a nationwide academic competition that tests students’ knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics. Teams face-off in a fast-paced question-and-answer format, being tested on a range of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, Earth science, physics, energy, and math.

  • Come along if you really, really, really enjoy Math puzzles, enjoy a Math challenge and love problem solving! Ridgeview will be participating in the MathCounts and MOEMS competitions this year.

Other Ridgeview Clubs

  • Climbing Club is open to any student in Grades 7-12 who is interested in rock climbing. We’ll explore the abundance of climbing that Horsetooth Reservoir has to offer, from its historic boulders to its scenic top-rope crags. While climbing, club members will learn about climbing technique, gear, safety protocols, etiquette, anchor building, and a host of other things that will help them become responsible members of Northern Colorado’s climbing community. While the club’s focus will be mainly outdoor climbing, we’ll take trips to indoor gyms during the winter months.

  • The Craft a Change Club gets together weekly to make and sell handmade items. All proceeds will go to a cause that helps our local community. Students will learn to use Excel, to inventory, and to make different crafts. Students will also learn to set up shop and market their wares.

  • Students will submit poems, short stories, or chapters. We will read and discuss these submissions as a group. This club will emphasize appreciation and encouragement.

  • Cross Stitch Club will meet on Wednesdays from 3:40-4:40. We welcome all levels from beginner to advanced to join!

  • Students will learn about firearm safety and the fundamentals of shooting. Applications are due at the front office by August 30th,download the application here.

  • Mock Trial is a student court-room drama for students. There are elements of argumentation, acting, forensic oratory, and sleuthing.

  • Creative writing club for 4th-6th graders. Each meeting will have time for writing and sharing one's work with a positive and supportive audience.

  • Historical wargaming involves reenacting battles, campaigns, and even entire wars from the past in the format of a board game.  These games can exactly replicate the conditions of conflict (terrain, armies with their strengths and weaknesses, economic and political conditions) of actual battles as well as present opportunities for playing out “what-if” scenarios – changing history! The RCS Wargaming Club will explore both reenacting an actual conflict (such as battles like Gettysburg or Waterloo and many, many others) as well as the possible scenarios that did not actually occur (like the Cold War turning hot in Europe or the German invasion of Britian in 1940).

  • Upper school students that join this club will provide tutoring for elementary students in math, Riggs, and composition.  Any student wanting to tutor will need to attend training sessions in both math and Riggs.
