+ What is a charter school?
A charter school is a semi-autonomous public school of choice. We have greater flexibility in operations in return for greater accountability in performance. Our charter was approved by Poudre School District and the state of Colorado in 2001. We are in charge of our own calendar, curriculum, and hiring of faculty.
+ Does Ridgeview charge tuition?
No. We are a public charter school, and therefore we are tuition-free.
+ Do I have to be living within PSD's boundaries?
No. You may live anywhere in the state of Colorado as long as you are willing to drive your students. Colorado residency is not required to enter the lottery.
+ Do siblings get preference in the lottery?
Yes. If you get one of your children in our school, their siblings get preference for enrollment. (including automatic enrollment in our Kindergarten program).
+ Why does Ridgeview have a dress code and uniform?
Students wear a uniform in grades K-8. The purpose of the uniform is to help students take seriously their role as learners and to minimize distractions. It also encourages students to find more meaningful forms of self-expression than their attire.
+ What are the school hours?
Elementary school is from 8:15am - 3:15pm. Upper school is from 8:00am-3:30pm.
+ Do you offer Pre-K / Full Day Kindergarten?
We do not offer a Pre-K program. If you are interested in Kindergarten, please be aware that we run two tracks of classes, each for two and a half days per week.
+ Can I visit Ridgeview?
We welcome all visitors to Ridgeview Classical Schools. If you have been contacted regarding selection in the lottery, please set an appointment our Admissions Coordinator.
+ Can my child shadow a Ridgeview student?
Yes. If your student is in grade 6 or above and has been offered a spot at Ridgeview, they have an option to participate in the Shadow program. Learn more about our Shadow Program.
+ Can my homeschool student take classes at Ridgeview?
Yes. Ridgeview offers complimentary courses for Homeschool students in grades 7-12. There is a 3 course minimum for homeschool students part time status.
+ What is a classical school?
A classical education is based in the traditions of Western Culture. It provides a systematic, rigorous framework to teach the best that has been written. We teach the good, the beautiful and the true, using original sources and Socratic Discussion.
+ What is a Hoplite (Our Mascot)?
The ancient Hoplites were primarily farmers and artisans of ancient Greek city-states. These citizen-soldiers lived civilian lives until they were called to duty. They were regarded as courageous, and had a sense of justice and honor. They rose to meet the challenges of battle without hesitation, leading by example and facing death head-on.
