The Outdoor Program

Ridgeview places an emphasis on developing a reverence of nature in our students.
Every academic year, each class will have two scheduled trips which act as an extension of our
focus on character and the pursuit of the good life.

Elementary Trips

In Elementary School, the outdoor program aims to introduce every student to the outdoors, teach them to independently manage their personal gear, and work to preserve the natural enthusiasm that children show for the outdoors. Students are encouraged to learn alongside their parents and faculty chaperones.

Middle School Trips

In Middle School, the outdoor program continues to build on the skills learned in the elementary school, encourages a sense of responsibility and ownership for our local outdoor areas, and teaches students to work as a team to manage the needs of camp without the help of adult chaperones.

High School Trips

In High School, the outdoor education program prepares students to plan and manage independent expeditions.
Students will learn to maintain gear, obtain relevant certifications and permits, manage trip logistics and manage risk.

Academics and outdoor pursuits really go hand-in-hand. We try to connect their experience in the classroom with the one they have outside.
