Mr. Collins

Mr. Collins is a teacher and a writer who was born and raised in Central Texas. He earned his BA in English from The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, where he cultivated a love for literature and wrote for the school newspaper.     

Since graduating from Sewanee in 2012, Mr. Collins has continued to pursue journalism. He’s worked for several newspapers and magazines, most recently as an editor at Outdoor Life. This work has carried him around much of the country, where he’s written extensively about conservation and environmental issues.

He has also worked seasonally over the years as a river guide, ski instructor, and outdoor educator.   

Mr. Collins is proud to call Ridgeview his new home. He lives in Fort Collins with his wife and son. When not on campus, he can often be found somewhere in the Poudre Canyon.

What kind of reading do you most enjoy doing? 

Fiction and creative nonfiction 

What are the small essentials that make life more comfortable? 

Bluetooth speakers and beanies    

What are your favorite snacks? 

Bread, cheese, olives, and cured meats  

What do you do to unwind? 

Fishing, boating, spending time outdoors
