Mock Trial Regional Tournament Results

The Mock Trial Northern Colorado Regional Tournament went off with fewer hitches than expected in the online format. Our students, as always, performed well and represented Ridgeview with decorum and professionalism.

There were only six teams at the tournament this year. That Ridgeview again provided two is a testament to the students' dedication. This year has been a challenge for many and obvious reasons. Nevertheless, our two teams responded to the challenges, individually and as a team.

We did not have an "upper team" and a "lower team" this year as Zoom meetings and cohorting basically formed the teams for us. That said, the lower classmen stepped up and both of our teams were in the running to go to state at any given time. Unfortunately, we missed the cut. One of our teams finished 3rd and the other finished 4th.

Individually, we earned two prestigious awards:

  • Anna-Sofia H. won the Best Witness award. This award is for portraying a character while remembering the details of the case and reacting to opposing team's questions in character.

  • Juliette J. won the Best Attorney award. This award is for preparing questions, giving closing statements, and controlling the facts of the case that get into evidence - overall lawyerly skill.

Please give both teams congratulations for a tough year!
