Mrs. Slocomb has been a Physical Education teacher at Ridgeview since 2006. She has spent the past two decades teaching and coaching students, kindergarteners through seniors, toward bettering themselves both in the classroom and in athletics. She grew up on a small hog farm in Wellington, Colorado, where she learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and family—principles that continue to guide her today. As a former competitive gymnast, she developed a passion for physical fitness and discipline at a young age, which has shaped her life and career.

Mrs. Slocomb graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Exercise Science, concentrating in Health Promotion. She also holds a Certified Personal Trainer credential through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CPT), reflecting her dedication to evidence-based wellness and performance education.

For 14 years, she served as head gymnastics coach at Fort Collins High School, mentoring student-athletes and fostering a team culture built on hard work, determination, and mental toughness. Over her years of teaching and coaching, she has remained passionate about helping young people develop the skills and knowledge they need to maintain lifelong health and wellness while building resilience and character.

Outside of school, Mrs. Slocomb enjoys watching her own four children’s sporting events, attending Colorado State University athletic events, staying active, and spending time with her family.

Where were you born and where have you lived?

I was born in Fort Collins,CO and was raised on a small farm in Wellington, CO.

Where did you attend university or college?

I attended Colorado State University. GO RAMS!

What kind of reading do you most enjoy doing?

I enjoy reading fiction, mystery, & some science fiction.

What are the small essentials that make life more comfortable?

Comfy shoes and a good pillow.

What are your favorite snacks?

I love Kilwin's pistachio ice cream, popcorn, chips, pistachios, and anything salty!

What do you do to unwind?

Clean the kitchen, then hang out with my kiddo's.

How could a parent volunteer help you most?

Wash jerseys and volunteer for reading groups since I can't.
