Mrs. Corneliusen was originally born in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, but she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, when she was fairly young. Later, she lived in Greeley, Colorado while she got her degree before settling in the Fort Collins area with her husband. While attending the University of Northern Colorado, she studied Elementary Education with an emphasis in Teaching English as a Second Language.

Mrs. Corneliusen first became familiar with Ridgeview when her brother, Mr. Macy, joined the Music Faculty. Having attended a K-12 classical charter school herself in Colorado Springs, she was familiar with and fond of the style of learning & teaching Ridgeview had to offer. She chose to teach at Ridgeview because she of her appreciation for the school’s emphasis on educating all aspects of a child and helping them reach their full potential. Mrs. Corneliusen believes that Ridgeview teachers have the privilege of working closely with parents to nurture students’ physical, emotional, and academic growth. Since joining the third-grade team in 2023, Mrs. Corneliusen has discovered her love for teaching Singapore math, as well as the ancient civilizations in history.

In her free time, Mrs. Corneliusen can be found at a coffee shop reading, outside hiking, or spending quality time with her family. When she needs to unwind, she enjoys bullet journaling or crafting to relax.

Q & A with Mrs. Corneliusen

Where are you from and where have you lived?

I was originally born in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois but moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado when I was fairly young. I lived in Greeley for college before moving to the Fort Collins area. 

 

Where did you attend college or university?

I studied Elementary Education with an emphasis in Teaching English as a Second Language at the University of Northern Colorado.

 

What kind of reading do you enjoy most?

In my free time, I enjoy reading Christian Living books as well as a variety of fiction books.

 

What are the small essentials that make life more comfortable?

Lamp lighting and candles, sunsets, and Christmas music. Quality time with family is also a necessity!

 

What are your favorite snacks?

BBQ Chips and Gluten-Free Oreos are my favorite!

 

What do you do to unwind?

I enjoy reading or bullet journaling to relax after a long day.

 

How could a parent volunteer help you the most?

Supporting our students in reading groups! This is a great opportunity to work together in engaging students in a small-group setting with a text to practice reading and discussing their thoughts and questions with one another.

 

Why have you chosen to teach at Ridgeview specifically?

I chose to teach at Ridgeview because I value the emphasis they put on educating the whole child – I believe that teachers at Ridgeview have the privilege to work alongside parents in developing a student’s physical, emotional, and academic well-being.
