Snow Day: Friday, March 12

Dear Ridgeview,

Due to a series of rather unprecedented events, I have elected to cancel school on Friday, March 12. While I anticipate that this could be called a snow day, forecasts are divided about when the snow will begin or how intense the snowfall might be. In any event, I would like to provide our community with as much time as possible to plan around this cancellation.

We have essentially three different issues culminating on Friday. First, the storm, which we suspect will begin in earnest around noon, is expected to bring us heavy snows. For our families living to the west of Fort Collins, this could make travel quite dangerous. While we could resort to calling an early release, I would like to avoid doing this if at all possible.

Second, given the strong reaction to the second dose of the vaccine, and the fact that many of our faculty and administrators have received their second inoculation this week, Friday could see high staff absences.

Third, we are receiving numerous e-mails from families who have moved up their travel plans on the advice of the airlines. The airlines themselves are attempting to adjust in anticipation of this storm, and as a result, we will likely see higher student absences on Friday.

Given all of these considerations, we will suspend school on Friday, and I wish you all a happy, restful, and rejuvenating spring break.

Kind regards,

D. Anderson
