Girls Soccer Recap 2024
This group of girls worked incredibly well together and had phenomenal attitudes the entire season. They listened to their coaches and were always eager to improve.
The captains, Ellie, Jess, and Braelyn led humbly and with determination that started every practice and game on the right foot. They independently ran our warmup and ensured all players were ready to play.
We saw huge growth from our returning players who stepped up and became solid starters for the team. Eliza relentlessly on defense, Hannah in the center with her calm presence and tenacity to move the ball forward, Ellie on the wing with her tremendous communication and crosses, and Sofia who became a commanding presence in the center with some exciting break aways. It was wonderful seeing all of you grow and own your positions and place on the field. Jess, Thea, and Colbie were also our outstanding all-around players willing to jump in wherever needed and always have the best attitudes and encouragement toward their teammates.
Alice and Jaiden commanded the back, with their excellent work as sweeper and keeper. Mabel and Addy M. remained a force to be reckoned with in the back again this season, playing their positions extremely well and always being open to feedback and ways to improve.
Our goals were scored by Braelyn, Addie B., Alice, Kiya, Sofia, and Simran. They always had perseverance and drive up top that kept us on the edge of our seats.
Our B team players showed amazing growth and even better attitudes continuing to work hard in practice every day. Many of these Hoplites will earn their place on the A-team next year due to the hard work and perseverance demonstrated this season.
Though our record does not directly show it, this is the best soccer Ridgeview has ever played. Mr. Poonen, our longtime referee, former soccer coach, and current Ridgeview parent, approached the coaches after a game he officiated and shared that was the best soccer he had ever seen Ridgeview play. Further, our Hoplites were showing clean aggression, improvement with their ball skills, and were communicating with one another and playing as a unified team. Most importantly, that they were still the respectful, kind, and supportive players and teammates they have always been.
Coach Elliott, Coach Conway, and Coach Gaub are extremely proud of their progress, growth with their aggression and skills, and overall outstanding character. They are hopeful the entire team returns for a winning season next year!
