10 Ways to Get Involved in the Ridgeview Community: COVID-19 Edition

The school year has just begun. This might be one of our more unusual academic years, and there are some activities and opportunities that may be unavailable this fall. However, there are still plenty of ways to show your Hoplite pride and get involved in our community. We’ve compiled the list below to help you make the most of your time as a Ridgeview parent.

  1. Read the Nuntius. The Nuntius is our weekly email newsletter, typically published on Monday mornings. Here, we share announcements, post event details, highlight student accomplishments, share volunteer opportunities, and more. All parents are automatically subscribed to the Nuntius, so be sure to check your junk folders if you do not see it in your inbox.

  2. Attend Principal’s Coffees. These monthly morning meetings with Mr. Anderson and other administrators provide parents an opportunity to ask questions and receive updates on the school. For location or Zoom information, please refer to the Nuntius each week.

  3. Join a Parent Reading Group. Ridgeview offers both a weekly and monthly reading group for parents. The monthly reading group provides an opportunity for parents to read and discuss a new book each month, while the weekly reading group allows parents to engage with a diverse array of articles, book excerpts, and pedagogical works regarding classical education. This is a unique chance to have conversations about the material with other parents and Mr. Anderson. For location or Zoom information, please refer to the Nuntius each week.

  4. Read the Principal’s Perspective. Nearly every week, Mr. Anderson shares an essay that aims to bring our entire community—parents, faculty, students, board members, and administrators—together by addressing a contemporary issue of interest or importance.

  5. Listen to our podcast, Hoplite Radio. In each episode, you can expect to hear about various aspects of the Ridgeview experience as we share conversations with teachers, board members, alumni, parents, and more. Listen to all episodes of Hoplite Radio on our website or on listening platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

  6. Follow us on social media. We frequently post on our Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook pages to share updates, exciting news, and photos with our community. Stay in the loop and excited about our school!

  7. Register to Volunteer. While volunteers are not permitted on campus at the moment, remote opportunities may arise in the near future. Become a registered volunteer today to help chaperone an outdoor trip or dance; prepare crafts for teachers; support our theatre, music, or visual art programs; serve food at an event; and much more! We appreciate your help; our school wouldn’t be what it is without you! To register, please visit our Volunteer page.

  8. Browse the Ridgeview Bookshop. The Ridgeview Bookshop will open on campus later this year, but you can shop titles now from our online store!

  9. Shop with Amazon Smile, King Soopers Community Rewards, or Scrip. If you shop on Amazon through our Amazon Smile link, Amazon will donate a small percentage of your purchases to our school. King Soopers offers a similar program, Community Rewards, as a way to contribute to Ridgeview while you shop (use code AR268). Finally, Scrip is a Gift Card Rewards program that helps our school while allowing you to earn a Family Credit that can be used to pay for school fees and specific school activities throughout the year.

  10. Donate used and new uniforms to support Hoplites in need. We accept gently used and new uniforms year-round; just drop your donation in the bin in the Front Lobby or give these items directly to the Front Office.

There are many ways to be an active participant in our school community; we hope to see you around soon!
