Our Program
Ridgeview is part of the NCIL (Northern Colorado Independent League), which includes 15 schools from Windsor, Greeley, Milliken, Loveland, and Fort Collins. We offer cross country, soccer, girls’ volleyball, basketball, rugby, boys’ flag football, and track and field to students 6th-8th grade (with the exception of volleyball which is limited to 7th and 8th). Our sports teams may need 5th grade students to make a sports team possible.
Please visit the NCIL Website for the most up-to-date schedules, scores and standings.
Participation in a sport helps build character by teaching skills including, but not limited to, teamwork, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship, cooperation, hard work, and dedication. These skills often translate to other aspects of a student’s school and life. At Ridgeview, we believe that anyone who wants to participate in a sport should have the opportunity to be a member of the team. Our A team (varsity) is meant to be competitive, while our B team (junior varsity) gives athletes more equal playing time to increase participation and growth.
** + Eligibility **
Policy AP – 7.5 Eligibility (K-12)
Student eligibility in school-sponsored extracurricular activities is both a privilege and a responsibility. The following policy applies to each activity in which students choose to participate throughout the school year. All eligibility decisions are at the discretion of the administration.
Eligibility: A student who has one D (D- through D+) or below will be put on Eligibility Probation. The student is then responsible for meeting with the teacher of the probated class and obtaining an agreed-upon plan of action for raising the grade. Once the teacher is satisfied that the conditions were met, they will sign a form that will indicate to their coach/sponsor that they are eligible to attend activities/practices/competitions for that week. If the student fails to meet the conditions and the form is not signed, the student shall not participate for the week. If progress is not demonstrated after 2 weeks, the student will be deemed ineligible to participate until their grade is passing (C- or above).
Ineligibility: A student who has two D’s (D- through D+) or one F in any subject(s) is Ineligible for extracurricular activities for a week. Failure to raise ineligible grades after three weeks will result in dismissal from the school-sponsored activity.
Two disciplinary referrals in one quarter or three in one semester will render a student ineligible for any extracurricular activities for the remainder of that quarter. Four disciplinary referrals will render a student ineligible for all extracurricular activities and functions for the remainder of the school year. A principal may deem a student ineligible for the following season or for off-campus field trips based on repeated misconduct.
Any act of egregious unsportsmanlike conduct by any student (as deemed by the Headmaster) renders a student ineligible for the remainder of the season.
** + Policy SE 13.0 Philosophy of Sports **
Ridgeview Classical Schools participates in the Northern Colorado Independent League (NCIL). This league is for intermediate school students. This opportunity is extended to 5th and 6th graders based on the need for an increased number of participants.
All students are given the opportunity to be on the appropriate teams if they are eligible. See Policy AP7.5 Eligibility (K-12). The teams will play to win.; as a result all players will not have equal playing time.
The Athletic Director is responsible for finding, vetting, and recruiting coaches. Coaches should have experience and background in the sport, support the school, and exhibit exemplary values and character both on the field and off.
